French jetcufflinks 1

Jet (from the Greek gagates, stone of Gagas) is a fossil gem formed by the action of oceanic pressure on wood. It is the hardest coal in existence, yet it is very fragile, and was replaced by a deep burgundy glass paste, with the same visual appearance, to meet the demand during the reign of Queen Victoria (1837-1901), following the death of King Albert.

An ancient material used for mourning ceremonies until the 1930s, faceted jet has become a symbol of glamour because of its shine and brilliance.

These French Jet (1) cufflinks are handmade in our Parisian workshop in the heart of the Village Saint Paul (Paris 4th).
