Here it is uncovered, approached by ellipses, details or great founding myths. A wink to the collective and sensory memory, as the creator likes to do.
Among the 6 proposals around the body, a story of mother-of-pearl, silver, bronze and melanin emerges. This biological pigment, which gives its nuance to the colour of the skin, defines the colour of the eyes, protects against UV rays, and contributes to the possible and astonishing change of colour in certain animals, is present in the collection.
This theme is also and above all an opportunity to experiment and renew the materials that make Samuel Gassmann's creations so special. Leather is a new guest: worked for the first time, it is used to sheathe the cabochons of the emoticon series.
THE AGE OF TANNING - UV INDICES - SUNNY SIDE UP - LIGHT THERAPY
For this series, the sun has a rendezvous with the skin. From bronze to tanning, from silver to the moon, Samuel Gassmann uses his two favourite materials, those which traditionally make up his links, as a revealing agent of exposure to the sun's rays. The silver for the day is adorned with a bronze tablet, like a golden skin in the hottest hours, and the bronze for the evening adopts silver when the natural light declines. Protection or not, from sun block to monoi, the imprint of UV rays is visible on the wrist.
CAMELONISM
Changing skin, transforming one's appearance, becoming someone else. This strategy of protection and concealment that some species possess is secretly coveted by humans. Fashion is a camouflage, a kind of social and aesthetic link, unifying and reassuring. The men's accessory is inspired by this with two enamelled versions, green or yellow, wood or desert.
EYES
The doll's eyes found at flea markets, always light blue and exaggeratedly round, serve to support this vision. Completely revisited, they are of four different colours, according to the shade of an iris, and come to adorn one end of the link. Mirror of the soul? Symbol of knowledge, desire and power? In any case, one of the most meaningful elements of the body.
EMOTICONES
The 6 colours of leather that cover the mother-of-pearl buttons like a second skin are reminiscent of the new colours of emoticons.
